New Zealand (2020-2021)
The Women, Dance and Spirit project began as an initiative to bring together women from diverse nationalities living in New Zealand, many of whom had a deep connection to dance but struggled to engage with it in their new environment due to the challenges of daily life and a lack of opportunities. As the pandemic unfolded, the project evolved into a response to these challenges, blending creative research with personal healing. Between March and August 2021, the study group became a sanctuary of creativity and support, offering a space for women to gather, reflect, and release the emotional burdens of grief, confinement, and uncertainty. Guided by the concept of toroidal flow, the group explored collective healing through movement and creative expression, intertwining personal and collective aspects of dance. Despite disruptions caused by the pandemic and the loss of several dancers, the project highlighted the power of surrendering to the unknown, embracing the unexpected, and fostering community through creative collaboration.
Women: Dance & Spirit
The final choreographic outdoor exploration with the dancers marked a transformative culmination of the *Women, Dance and Spirit” project. This final exploration not only celebrated the resilience of the dancers but also reinforced the project's core themes of healing, connection, and the creative flow between the personal, nature and the collective. It was a powerful conclusion to a journey of growth, surrender, and shared transformation. In this section, you can find some of those choreographic explorations,
