Matariki: Ko koe ko au, ko au ko koe Touch Compass
Matariki was an international educational choreographic project developed in 2022 and 2023 during my tenure as Education Programme Development Lead at Touch Compass, Aotearoa’s leading disability-led performing arts company. In collaboration with the renowned artist Rodney Bell, I worked creatively and as an education coordinator, crafting various iterations of the educational resource and facilitating workshops in both mainstream and specialist schools across Aotearoa. The project extended beyond New Zealand, reaching international communities in Greece, Spain, Peru, Mexico, and Costa Rica through cultural exchanges. Matariki transcended borders to celebrate diversity, foster inclusivity, and raise awareness around disability.
As part of this project, I had the privilege of working with renowned disabled artists and human beings such as Dr. Suzanne Cowan, Rodney Bell, Lusi Faiva, and Alisha McLennan Marler.
