RASA

New Zealand (2024)

In Rasa, the artist explores dreamlike forms that emerge through physicality and the delicate composition of images. The dramaturgy draws deeply from her origins, personal history, and spiritual practice, weaving these elements into a profoundly evocative performance. This work expresses the frustration of an artist who finds herself in a new place, where her roots and culture are unknown. It delves into how art becomes both a cry and a gateway to alchemy, offering a way to channel the inner voice that transcends identity, regardless of one’s status as a migrant or artist in unfamiliar lands. Through this transformative process, art turns dislocation into a powerful expression of self and essence.

The piece unfolds in choreo-psychomagic moments that delve into the alchemy of feminine and human essence. Each segment reclaims the right to create, be free, imagine, and express artistic vision in its purest form.

Rasa takes both performer and audience on a journey through the irrational, the dreamlike, and the transformative—reflecting the experience of a migrant artist far from her homeland. Ethereal imagery intertwines with the raw power of the wild feminine voice, blending delicacy with intensity in a performance that defies conventional storytelling.
